About Roamhaus · why we exist

Roamhauspacking should stop feeling like a compromise.

Roamhaus exists because packing should not mean picking the lesser of five generic options. We curate a small catalog of well-made travel gear — the kind we would carry ourselves — and ship it directly from the makers who build it. No warehouse of mystery. No pile of middlemen. Just the things you actually pack, made by people who actually make them.

How we curate

A small team, hand-picking the kit travelers actually pack.

Generic dropshipping pushes the margin onto the buyer — six near-identical products in each category, none of them graded against anything real. We do the opposite: we trim the catalog until what is left earns its slot. The result is shorter, the choices are deliberate, and the buyer is not asked to play lottery with a kit.

Every supplier we keep has cleared the same three filters: supplier reliability, shipping speed, and build quality. Our process is plain — we order a sample, time how it travels, inspect what arrives. If a piece fails two of those filters in a row we cut it; the only thing more expensive than a long catalog is a long catalog you are not sure about.

We are not the makers' broker and we are not the buyers' reseller. We are the buyer's filter — the people who decide what makes the cut, then get out of the way and let the maker ship the kit directly from the workshop.

Every product sample-tested on a desk before listing.

Every maker checked for shipping speed and build quality.

Every order shipped with a tracked handoff.

Our makers · placeholders

Real makers, real workshops.

This is where the maker cards will live. For now each card is an intentional stub — the owner replaces the bracketed fields in MAKER_PLACEHOLDERS on this page, and the schema updates with it. We add 2–4 over the next sprint, one card per maker, country, and craft.

What we hold ourselves to

Three principles, kept short.

These are not slogans — they are the filters we run every new piece and every new maker against, in that order.

Principle · 01

Vetted

Every piece on Roamhaus is sampled, used, and inspected before we list it. Two failed filters and a maker is cut.

Principle · 02

Distinct

We would rather carry a short catalog you trust than a long one you do not. If a product does the same job as one already in the bag, it does not get in.

Principle · 03

Shipped when promised

We publish the window we actually see on the product page, not the one that looks good in an ad. If a carrier slips, we tell you — and we make it right.
